My Action Research Plan
Well, here is a copy of my Action Research plan. I am excited to see this implemented during the upcoming school year, mostly because it involves the new position I have taken as Title Math teacher on my campus. Let me know what you think...

I love love love love love this idea! As a classroom teacher I am ALWAYS asking this question in my head! I really feel like a pull out program will be more successful because it is more one on one. My school does the inclusion and I feel it isn't meeting the needs of the students as successfully as a pull out program would. The only problem with a pull out class is "birds of a feather cause havoc together..." usually your inclusion students, when placed together, become more of a discipline issue. I have a class of 14 students last year, 12 special ed and 2 regular ed. It was a total disaster from day one.... I am very interested in seeing your end results!
ReplyDeleteI really like the direction you are headed in with your action research plan. It has always been a issue at my current campus with students getting pulled out of class for tutorials and pull outs. It would be nice to find out a way to get the extra help students need, but not take as much class time away from the ones that are already struggling in class. I like your survey idea because it will give you a chance to see how not just students, but parents feel about the program. Also in the long run you might build some parent involvement with the survey.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea and well thought out plan. I am a special education teacher, and while I teach a self-contained class, I am always wondering about the effectiveness of the programs from both avenues. Can wait to see your results and just learn about this along the way. Sometimes when kids get pulled out they tend to use it as a crutch to get out of class, so I will be interested in your findings. Good luck, I hope it goes smoothly!
